Product Description
This is a different take on an old advent hymn text. Rather than the lilting waltz feel this text is usually sung to (aka "Hyfyrdol"), I thought that the longing of the words would lend themselves well to a plaintive blues feel. The publisher's demo recording changed the feel of the piece when they added electric guitar, bass and drums; my intent was for it to be more mysterious and laid-back.
Lyrics
Come, thou long expected Jesus,
Born to set thy people free;
From our fears and sins release us,
Let us find our rest in thee.
Israel's strength and consolation,
Hope of all the earth thou art;
Dear desire of every nation,
Joy of every longing heart.
Come, come, come, long expected Jesus.
Oh come, come, come Thou anointed one!
Born thy people to deliver,
Born a child and yet a King,
Born to reign in us forever,
Now thy gracious kingdom bring.
By thine own eternal spirit
Rule in all our hearts alone;
By thine all sufficient merit,
Raise us to thy glorious throne.
(chorus)
Come, long expected Jesus
Come, long expected Jesus
Come, joy of every longing heart
Come, joy of every longing heart
Come, long expected Jesus
Won't you come, thou long expected Jesus.
Come, come, come.
