Philip Yancey is always worth reading. Not only does he have a way of "fleshing out" theology in everyday language, he also has the courage and integrity to write of his own struggles of faith. In Reaching for the Invisible God, Yancey addresses questions of doubt, and issues of what one can expect in this life as a follower of Christ. I found his chapters on each person of the Trinity very helpful as well as His idea of God as the Ultimate Chessmaster (we are free to make any move we want, but God will still work it out to suit His good purposes.) It was in reading this book that I heard God calling me to return to some spiritual disciplines I had been neglecting; and my worship chorus, "Take Me Deeper", was also birthed after reflecting on this book.
