As recorded on “Blue Curry,” this challenging and fun vocal jazz arrangement of two classic hymns, “All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name” and “Crown Him with Many Crowns” is sure to please. Requiring at least 7 singers, you may purchase either the TTBB version (literally, TTTBBBB) as performed exactly on “Blue Curry,” or the SATB (literally, SAATTBB) version, which is an identical arrangement only one half step higher.

In the Silence of the Morning

Written for SATB choir with alto soloist, this piece is an arrangement of a beautiful Welsh folk tune used so effectively in the movie, “Empire of the Sun.” Here, I have added my own new text about meeting with the Lord “in the silence of the morning.”

The classic hymn, with its lilting 6/8 pulse, always seems a little too gleeful to me (at least for the line, “I was sinking deep in sin”). So here I’ve given it a new melody in minor for the stanzas, which then switches to major for the triumphant chorus. The performance recorded here is by the Singing Churchmen of Oklahoma of the TTBB arrangement.
